“Live your style” is the motto of Jane Boatman Geller, the president and chief designer of the luxury stationery company that bears her name. “Current” and “fresh” are two words that are often used to describe her designs. When creating new designs, Jane Boatman Geller combines her love of classic patterns with unexpected color combinations, creating a few new twists on the traditional. Jane Boatman Geller's designs feature suzanis, florals, preppy plaids and modern graphic patterns. The icons, patterns and colors in the Boatman Geller collection are representative of Jane’s idea of the good life. In her opinion, stationery is an expression of who people really are.
Jane Boatman Geller was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from DePauw University with a degree in studio art, Jane Boatman Geller headed to New York City. Through a temp agency, she got her first job in the mailroom of Elizabeth Arden. She gradually worked her way up and after working as an administrative assistant to the executive Vice President, she eventually became assistant art director for Elizabeth Arden, where she spent six years designing the marketing products and packaging for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.
While living in New York City, Jane Boatman met her future husband, Greg Geller, a NYC elementary school teacher. When he received a job offer in Seattle, Jane left her job with Elizabeth Arden and moved across the country to Washington State with him. While living in Seattle, Jane Boatman Geller did some freelance graphic design work, but found it unsatisfying.
In 2002, after attending a lecture by noted stationery designer Candace Conway, Jane Boatman Geller decided to design her own line of stationery and start her own company. Jane wanted a way to use her design expertise and still have time to spend with her children. She began designing and selling her own line of stationery, cards, invitations and notepads from her home. The simple elegance of Jane’s designs captivated all who saw them and her business experienced phenomenal growth, allowing her husband to leave teaching and become chief operating officer of Boatman Geller.
After moving to Indianapolis, Jane and Greg moved their business out of their home into a large facility. Boatman Geller's fashionable products are currently carried by high - end retailers throughout the United States and by reliable web sites. Boatman Geller products have also been showcased at the multi-level Main Event Lounge of the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, where Hollywood’s elite stops in to unwind in an exclusive, appointment - only environment.
